Car Trip June 2003
Anne, Carol and Jerry
We decided to drive secondary roads through NM and AZ on our way to Mexico.
Here is a view of the VLA or Very Large Array, the largest radio telescope
facility in the world consisting of 27 of these antenna in a pattern like
a Y.

After picking up Anne at the Tucson Airport, we continued down to the Inn at
San Ignacio in Green Valley for the night.

We used the Mariposa border crossing at Nogales and drove
on Mexican toll road 15 to the 21km checkpoint
then on to Hermosillo for an excellent grilled lunch at Xochimilco Restaurant. |
Saguaros welcomed us at the entrance to Paradiso Resort (formerly
Club Med). |

Carol and Anne blew up the air mattresses and were soon putting
them to good use. |

Little did we know at sunset that we would be rounding the
peninsula behind us in sea kayaks the next morning. |

We kayaked out into the Sea of Cortez rounded a peninsula then entered a channel
into this quiet lagoon.
Dinner at the San Carlos Grill with the singing fishermen
at the next table.

Our last night at Tubac Resort. The next day, Anne boarded
her flight in Tucson and we had a long drive home with happy memories. |
