Anne's Northwestern Graduation - Kate's Party - South Haven Docks Dinner - U-Haul to Philadelphia

The happy Grad and families.

Dinner in downtown Chicago.
The guest of honor looking a bit tired after a long day!
Another party with Denis on the harmonica and Anne with the guitar.

While in the Chicago area, Carol and I went to see the Tutankhamun exhibit.
At the Field Museum

The exhibit was great but pictures were not allowed past this point.

Tut had a good but short life and an exotic burial practice by today's standards.

We passed this large bronze memorial on the way into the museum

Leaving Illinois behind, we took a rented car to Michigan to visit Kate, Tom, Pablo and Tommy in Niles then the Heald side of the family in South Haven.

The front of the house hides the "park like" back yard.
Kate & Tom call this place "The Lodge" with its pool, ponds, fountain, waterfall and all the greens that Tom so diligently manicures.
Celebation continues with a wonderful family dinner with Tom's famous brisket and Kate's terrific fare.

After dinner and drinks Carol took Kate on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride around the grounds on their golf cart.

Possibly this is the first and last time Carol drives a golf cart :-)

Next it was up to my hometown, South Haven.

This is an old dock house that my Mom always said she would like to live here.
Pat and Karl chatting on the other side of the dock house.
Chuck and Donna Jensen's docks, old Jensen fishmarket and Blackriver bridge.
The old Maxwell House Coffee building across the river.
Larry and Mia feeding the geese.
The dinners have arrived but Carl still looks worried about something.
Kathy and Bob wondering what's for desert?
Donna and Chuck with his electric scooter.

While eating dinner, we watched the mother robin feeding her young in the nest on the old chain.

Captain Bob waits by the Elsie J.
Getting ready for a river cruise.
Captain Bob poses with Kathy for a moment before heading to the engine room.
The Wilhelm Baum is a South Haven harbor landmark.
Chugging out Black River past the old lighthouse to Lake Michigan.
The brothers

My wonderful visit too soon came to an end. I returned to ABQ while Carol went back to Evanston and helped
Anne load up her things and drive a U-Haul to Philadelphia and hunt for an apartment.

Anne is ready to go!
Magically omitting all the work inbetween, here is Anne settled into her new apartment.
