New York visit to Scott and Napua
January 2005

Carol and I enjoyed a great week in NYC visiting Scott on the east side and Napua on the west.

We arrived while Napua was out of town but she was gracious enough to permit the use of her apartment. Here is Carol in the sleeping loft.
Carol had fun checking out her old apartment over the Oyster Bar on 7th Ave. She lived here when she was a flight attendant for Pam Am before she was married.
Other sights in the neighborhood were the Christmas Tree and the skating rink at Rockefeller Center.
Napua arrived and we hung out at her apartment for awhile.
Carol and Napua go way back, meeting when they were living in the same dorm at college.
A great Turkish restaurant was just around the block from Napua's place and she jazzed up the evening with a new wig.
We learned to get around on the subways and met Scott at Grand Central Station. The NYC subways just celebrated their centenial. Here we are looking at the exhibits in the Subway Museum.

We had dinner in a tiny chinese restaurant below street level.

Then we walked our legs off visiting Chinatown and Little Italy which is pictured here.

Another evening we enjoyed dinner at the well know Sardi's Restuarant in the theater district.

I got cheap seats in the balcony via the Internet. When we arrived, we found the balcony was so high and the rows so steeply pitched that you almost wished you had a seat belt :-)

After the play we wandered around Times Square before heading back to the apartment.
Another day we decided to visit the newly expanded and re-opened Museum of Modern Art. Scott and I are posing with Picasso's goat.

I was surprised to see a Vespa as one of the exhibits in MoMA.

I used to drive one of these down the sidewalks on my paper route when I was in high school.

Scott enjoys this park along the East River only a block from his apartment.
Scott's apartment with a few of his plants. He had been giving plants away in preparation for going to Brazil for a year.
I am holding a copy of "Flowering Plants of the Neotropics", a book that Scott co-authored.

So ended a terrific week with Scott and Napua in New York!
